Considering the fact that many of us spend numerous hours per day at work, sticking to sustainable lifestyle practices at your workplace can be impactful. Here are a few tips to share with your colleagues.

OPTIMISING THE WORKSPACE

  • Initiate a waste sorting system if it is not yet in place!

  • Turn off the light and the monitor screen when you leave work.

  • Install energy-efficient light bulbs.

  • Install a water purifier if tap water is not an option.

  • Optimize the natural light in the office.

COMMUTING TO WORK

  • Opt for walking or biking to work if you live near your workplace.

  • Consider taking public transportation before using a car.

Carpool to work with your colleagues.

SHARING FACILITIES

  • Consider renting a coworking space for a team of fewer than 30 people. Sharing, in this case, applies not only to the office itself but also all the essentials you would need to buy otherwise, which the coworking space may already have, such as Internet, kitchen, desks, printers, etc.

  • When coworking space is not an option, there are other possibilities to share and reuse and thereby be more sustainable, for example, equipment that you need for just that one occasion, e.g. a projector for a presentation or props to enhance a scene when shooting a new product line.

Ask around in your network or search on the internet to find what’s available nearby.

GO PAPERLESS

You can cut down on printed reports, memos and documents through cloud file storage and instant messaging apps.

There are also different kinds of digital project management tools that allow you to communicate with your team, manage budgets and timelines, and even make charts and presentations. Check out websites like The Digital Project Manager to gain further inspiration.
