Ecocert

Ecocert is an organic certification organisation, founded in France in 1991. It is based in Europe but conducts inspections in over 80 countries, making it one of the largest organic certification organisations in the world. Ecocert primarily certifies food and food products, but also certifies cosmetics, detergents, perfumes, and textiles. The company inspects about 70% of the organic food industry in France and about 30% worldwide.

Labour Behind the Label is an NGO that was founded in 2001 in the UK. They focus exclusively on labour rights in the global garment industry. Through their different campaigns, they are placing pressure on companies, while also raising the awareness of their customers in support of workers’ demands for improved pay and conditions. Labour behind the label is part of the international clean clothes alliance.

Textile Exchange is a non-profit organisation that was founded in 2002. They advise companies and help them to become more sustainable in three core areas: fibre and materials, integrity and standards, and supply network. I order to promote a cleaner supply chain, they have developed different industry standards such as the Organic Content Standard, the Responsible Down Standard, the Responsible Wool Standard, the Recycled Claim Standard, and the Global Recycled Standard.
